Experiential Learning

The Study Abroad Office at Ohio Northern University is prepared to assist students with placement in internship positions worldwide for any field of study. We work closely with ONU’s colleges to provide our students with the highest quality programs for experiential learning. These professional practice opportunities greatly enhance a student’s career marketability and show potential employers that he or she has real world experience in a dynamic workplace environment. Academic credit may also be granted for internship experiences. Please contact your Academic Advisor and the Study Abroad Office to discuss your internship needs.

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is an independent, nonprofit organization serving hundreds of colleges and universities in the United States and other countries by providing selected students challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C. for academic credit. Opportunities are also available in London and Oxford UK, as well as Sydney, Australia. Contact Professor Rob Alexander, Department of History, Politics, and Justice.

Volunteerism is another way to see the world outside of the academic setting. Volunteerism provides a character building opportunity for students interested in giving back to the world community. Opportunities are available around the world through many organizations like the Peace Corps, ONU's Northern Without Borders, ISA's Service Learning as well as many other humanitarian and educational organizations for students interested in experiential learning through volunteerism. Please contact the Study Abroad Office for more information.
